I wanted to go to Bayeux to get in touch with history, to see the Bayeux Tapestry so often discussed in high school, and moreover to experience the emotions and reality of D-Day. I'm glad to be able to say that I've succeeded, even though I only stayed there for a day. The D-Day Memorial Museum shows some impressive World War 2 machinery and uniforms, and shows the progression of the Allied take back of Normandy in great detail. When walking around the city, take in the quaint and old surroundings. Pay a visit to the impressive Cathedral. When visiting the Bayeux Tapestry you won't just see a large tapestry, but get an entertaining audio tour and medieval museum on the side. Less well-known but just as much worth a visit is the MAHB/Baron Gerard Museum, which has recently reopened after extensive renovation work and is a truly beautiful history museum.
